Tibet Fest in Vancouver (July 11,2010), co- hosted by the Tsengdok Monastery Association and the Tibetan Cultural Society of B.C.proves to be a massive success. The festival also highlighted Tibetan music, arts, food and culture.
Well over a thousand people attended this event and it is anticipated that the total amount of money raised will be just under $19,000. 100% of all the money raised at the Tibet Fest will be used for the Jyekundo earthquake relief and rebuilding efforts.
Our thanks to all the organizers, volunteers, donors and participants who combined to make this a truly successful event.
The people of Yushu/Jyekundo still need our help in reconstructing their lives and livelihoods. Please continue to support this effort in whatever way that you are able.

| Help the Tibet Earthquake Victims in Yushu/Jyekundo
On 14 April 2010, a devastating 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit the Tibetan region of Yulshul in Kham, also known as Yushu in Qinghai Province. At least 2,220 people were killed and over 12,135 injured, although unofficial reports place the number of dead and injured much higher. It is estimated that 80% of Tibetan homes were destroyed in the main town of Jyekundo (also referred to as Kyigudo, Gyegu or Jiegu in Tibetan and Yushu in Chinese).
In response to the earthquake and the tremendous suffering it has caused, Compassionate Action for Yushu/Jyekundo, a coalition of the British Columbia Tibetan community, non-profit organizations, Buddhist groups and concerned individuals, was formed on April 25, 2010 in Vancouver. The Coalition holds no political or religious affiliations and is appealing to assist earthquake survivors on the basis of humanitarian need. Click here for a list of Coalition members.
Compassionate Action For Yushu/Jyekundo's objectives are:
- To raise awareness of the devastation caused by the earthquake
- To raise funds to provide humanitarian relief for the earthquake victims and help rebuild the area of Yushu/Jyekundo
Your help is greatly needed!
Within five days of the earthquake the disaster was no longer in the news and it had fallen off the world’s radar. This is one of the poorest areas in the world and people have lost everything.
